Infinix GT 10 Pro In

We managed to score this new gaming and unique-looking smartphone from Infinix – the Infinix GT 10 Pro.

At first glance, we’re very curious about this futuristic design of the back panel of the GT 10 Pro. Similar to the Nothing Phone, it would seem the back panel is transparent, and what you are seeing is the PCB or the motherboard, along with other components like the CPU. Actually, it’s not and this is just a design aesthetic.

Infinix calls it the Cyber-Mecha design with a mini-LED indicator. This unique back cover is influenced by Cyberpunk aesthetics and comes in either Cyber Black and Mirage Silver. The back panel also features an interactive and customizable LED indicator lights, but we’ll talk more about that later.

Our review unit here comes in this nice-looking Cyber Black color with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Infinix originally promoted this with a 16GB RAM but the additional 8GB is just extended RAM (Infinix refers to it as MemFusion).

The packaging of the GT 10 Pro is designed to serve an additional purpose. You can actually assemble the outer packaging box and turn it into a music amplifier and charging holder.

At the front, you’ve got a 6.67-inch 10-bit FHD+ AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 60Hz, 90Hz or 120Hz that’s great for gaming and playing movies. Infinix claims they worked closely with game developers of PUBG, Mobile Legends and Free Fire to get you the best experience when playing these games. So we tried these games to see if that holds up and we’re getting frame rates in the north of 90fps most of the time.

One of the more interesting, or shall we say controversial, features of the GT 10 Pro is the Backlight Effect. Well, yes, it seems to be inspired by the Nothing Phone, but once you’ve tinkered around with it, you will realize this behaves more like the back panel of an ROG phone than a Nothing Phone.

The backlight effect lights up for the following events – incoming calls, notifications, charging, start up and games. Backlight effects are great when you have your phone on mute or do-not-disturb and the phone is facing down. You can even set the lights to follow the rhythm of the music you are playing.

It can be jarring at times, especially at night when you are about to go to sleep, so they’ve added a setting to turn this all off at certain times.

Running the GT 10 Pro is a Dimensity 8050 which is a 6nm 5G chipset. It is comprised of an octa-core processor with a single ARM Cortex A78 CPU running at 3.0GHz, an additional 3x ARM cortex A78 running at 2.6GHz and 4 efficiency cores of ARM Cortex A55 running at 2.0GHz.

This is paired with a 9-core ARM Mali G77 graphics processor, 8GB of RAM plus another 8GB of MemFusion and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. Storage is expandable up to 1TB via the microSD card slot.

The performance is validated by benchmark scores that we got.

The device runs on XOS 13.1 for GT which is based on Android 13. The UI is pretty simple and clean although the themes like wallpapers and icons screen gaming in them. Worth to note too that there’s no bloatware in here whatsoever. And that’s a big thumbs up for us!

For biometrics, you have an in-display fingerprint sensor as the primary locking mechanism but you can also opt for facial recognition to unlock the device on top of the usual pin, pattern or password options.

For connectivity, you have 5G from the dual-nano SIM cards, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC.

There’s a 3.5mm audio port here too and we’re also surprised there’s an FM tuner you can activate when an earphone is plugged. For better sound experience, you also get dual or stereo speakers.

The GT 10 pro comes with a triple-camera setup with an LED quad flash. This is headlined by a 108MP main camera which shoots 4K @ 1080p. This is paired with 2 more cameras with 2MP sensors each, one of which is a macro lens. Unfortunately, there is no ultra-wide camera here.

The front camera is a 32MP shooter with dual flash feature. You seldom get a flash in the front facing camera so that’s another plus.

So far, the main camera produced some pretty good shots. Photos are clear and crisp, colors are bright and well-saturated. Even some night shots look great!

For video recording, the main camera can shoot up to 4k @ 30fps. There’s no optical image stabilization but the clips are mostly decent.

The Infinix GT10 Pro packs a nice 5,000mAh battery and comes with a 45W fast charger (supers: PD 3.0 support) that can refill the power in about an hour, tops. When you are in the middle of the game, you can also enable Bypass Charging in the XArena which is the native Game Assistant Panel.

The device also did well in our battery benchmarks – hitting 11 hours and 25 minutes in our PCMark battery test at 50% brightness, zero volume and in airplane mode. Video loop test is also impressive – clocking in at 27 hours and 20 minutes under the same conditions.

Over-all the, the Infinix GT 10 Pro is a well-rounded and very capable gaming smartphone. The not most powerful out there but can hold its ground with most of the popular games out there. It’s got a very interesting design, good build quality, above average performance and ticks all the boxing for a gaming smartphone.
